FESTIVE FLORENTINES

Festive Florentines

Got to have Florentines at this time of year, we normally buy them in (M&S do amazing ones, but you have to suck it up and pay the premium price!)  But we saw a recipe in Delia’s chocolate book (same recipe can be found here), and whilst it takes a little time, it looked simple enough.  We tried them for the first time and they were delicious – but we sent most of them away so yesterday I made some more for us to scoff over the coming days.

I tweak Delia’s recipe slightly: swapping the raisins for cranberries, dropping the angelica and glace cherries and adding instead 50g of chopped crystallised ginger.  I also add an extra 25g or so of different nuts (the first time it was pistachios, this time hazelnuts) and the grated zest of two oranges.

Have a delicious Christmas!
